So this book had some things going for it. Willow was a pretty great protagonist - good messages about inclusivity, neurodiversity, PoC, living in poverty, overcoming obstacles, and so forth. For me, the counselor was too problematic, and the big reveal at the end a) was too easy and b) weirdly undermined a lot of the work the story had done about perseverance and life in poverty and so forth.
