Holy cow, you guys.
I picked this up on recommendation of Mrs. Oyler (secondary GT teacher), who picked it up because a middle school ELA teacher was teaching it, and we all agree it is a spectacular read. Definitely for older kids, violence similar to Hunger Games, but fast-paced, fascinating world-building, compelling characters - yes, I'll say it, unputdownable!
And, AND - it has the distinction of having a sequel that's EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE! I read Thunderhead in about six and a half minutes, and I am anxiously (read, borderline-desperately) waiting for the third book to come out November 5th. If I'm not at school November 6th, I'm sure it's for unrelated reasons.
Rating: Woo hoo!
