Man, I wanted to love this book so much more than I did. It had all the things I should love - somewhat fraught coming-of-age, adventure, creepiness, that pitch perfect edge of not-quite-sure-if-it's-supernatural-or-just-an-excess-of-imagination (okay, Holly Black really nailed that part) - but it just didn't hook me the way I wanted. Zach was okay, Alice was okay, Poppy was a little overdone, and I just didn't care about any of it the way I should have.
